First artworks for 2010!

Here's what I've been cooking up for AP Art and DI2. The top one is a vector self-portrait. It started out as a sketch that I intended to do a digital paint on, but I decided in the end that a vector would be more appropriate.

The bottom one is a digital painting of an alien ambassador visiting her own "secret place" to escape the stress from dealing with the diminishing relationship between her race and humanity. This one took somewhere around 20 hours or so (2 hours a week for a little more or less than two weeks). I managed to work far more efficiently with this one. Much better than spending a month on an artwork.

Academy of Art Precollege Fall Semester 09

This one is a little bit overdue...heh. Lots of fun and definitely my best work as of yet, but I wasn't too efficient when it came to working on this timely. That's the next thing I have to work on then...

1st week of Digital Painting class for me! Oh, and a Liepke study on Painter

So I'm back in a class with my digital painting teacher Jason Newhouse (check links for his blog). We're going over creature design right now! Did some sketches (sort of meaningless thumbnails and whatnot), aaaand we went over Corel Painter!

Corel Painter is an interesting painting program. It's somewhat like OpenCanvas, though a lot trickier to use. I feel that it definitely paints better than oC does, and if use correctly, Painter can work wonders that can't really be done on Photoshop.

If anything, Painter is a LOT more fun than Photoshop IMO.

Oh ho ho, can't catch me now webfilter!

So I'm in my DI2 class right now with some computer access. The top one is an old paint I did...which happens to be everyone's favorite, despite it having a lot of technical errors. Middle one is an O'Keeffe-style rose abstraction I did for DI2, and the bottom is just a quick speedpaint. Enjoy.

Bleh

I'm having trouble keeping up with the whole one-a-day thing due to schoolwork, so I'm going to kind of stop doing that and instead just try to get as much practice as I can :|

Here's the result of an OC network session with a friend of mine (Shimmering-Sword, check links for his dA). As tradition with OC sessions, I am bottom right. I started to get a good skin tone paint down before I had to go to sleep :(

Oh well. I'll get it done sometime later today if I can.

Bleh

Yeah I know I'm doing a bad job at keeping up with my one-a-days. Battleforge is one really big distraction.

In any case, in place of my one-a-day for the past few days, instead we'll have some more blasts from the past...

No one-a-day today. Too tired, homework procrastination is deadly. I did get some work on my DI 2 "Modern Artist" project done. Few things I can say that really need to be fixed so far (expression on her face, length of her arm). I really ought to do more of these action scenes though.

We'll see just how I'll turn this into a Franz Marc style painting...o___o
